Legal

Every artwork created by the artist John Sum is legally linked to an on-chain Certificate of Authenticity and Ownership (CAO) NFT on the Ethereum blockchain. The NFT serves as proof of both authenticity and ownership of the artwork.

When a sale or resale of the artwork occurs, it is crucial to ensure that the CAO NFT is transferred to the new owner. This maintains the integrity of the artwork's authenticity, ownership and provenance. Failure to transfer the CAO NFT means the buyer will not have verified proof of ownership; therefore, the buyer would not legally own the piece.

Upon purchasing an artwork, the logistics of delivering the physical piece and the NFT CAO must be organized privately between the buyer and the seller. John Sum does not handle resales. However, if you purchase directly from John Sum, he will contact you via your Ethereum address on the Blockscan Chat app to arrange the delivery details personally.
